Exam Oriented Country.. Public Exams...

What comes to mind the moment you say that a person is a Primary or Secondary School student in Malaysia..?

Well, in my case, I'm always asked about how i performed in my Public Exams.
That is the question almost every student who has passed their standard 6 gets.Especially if you are an Upper Secondary School students.

People are becoming more obsessed about the exams by the minute.
Everything is about your Public Exams.
It's a phenomenon that hits the country every time the results of the exams are out..
It becomes the main topic in the news .. whether it is on television or in the papers..

Students go to school just for the sake of preparing for the Public Exams..
We are focusing too much on Public Exams, instead of teaching the students to be better people who have knowledge they can put to good use after their school days.

Now, most of the students I know don't even know why they learn a certain subject other than the fact that they will be tested in their Public Exams which are: Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR)taken when you are 12 years old, Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) when you are 15 , Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)when you are 17 and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM)at the age of 19.

We have got to use a different approach with the students in order for us to really appreciate what we are learning and help contribute to the country with what we have learned from school..

I think this is a topic that is certainly worth a few opinions..
So,, to all of you who think they have their own opinions to share,, I am open to them,, no matter if you are a student, parent or even a teacher,, everyone's opinion matters..

Eager for your opinions....
